Life’s Better at the Beach: Turks & Caicos Edition

The Lovejoy’s just got back from an incredible trip to Turks & Caicos, and wow — this island knows how to deliver paradise! We stayed at Beaches Resort, right on the famous Grace Bay Beach, and it felt like stepping into a postcard. Think powdery white sand, the bluest water you’ve ever seen, and sunshine from the moment we woke up. Every day was an adventure!!

Finding Our Happy Place

Upon arrival, the kids wasted no time making the most of our trip. Gavin spotted the activities schedule right away and made a beeline for the basketball court, where he jumped into an organized game of 3-on-3. The staff was fantastic — cheering him on, joining the fun, and making sure everyone felt included. Meanwhile, Kyleigh, Preston, and Scott headed straight for the infamous Grace Bay Beach, where they happily stayed until it was time for dinner.

Eating Our Way Through Beaches

Speaking of eating… let’s just say I came home a few pounds heavier (worth it!). With so many dining options at Beaches, we found ourselves averaging five dinners a day — grabbing a little something at each stop and sampling everything we could. The kids loved the shows at Kimono, the lively hibachi restaurant, but as a family we all agreed our favorite spot was Soy, where the sushi was absolutely delicious.

Of course, no trip is complete without a few drinks. The kids were all about their piña coladas and Shirley Temples, while I made it my mission to sample the mojitos (both virgin and… not so virgin 😉).

Fun Around Every Corner

Entertainment was everywhere at Beaches, and we honestly surprised ourselves by how giddy we got every time we bumped into Elmo and his Sesame Street friends. The nightly shows were fantastic, with the Caribbean fire show being a standout favorite — full of energy, music, and a little bit of magic.

During the day, the waterpark kept us cool and busy, but Gavin found his happy place in the teen areas, spending hours playing ping pong, pool, and Xbox with new friends. We loved that some spaces were open for parents to join, while others were designed just for tweens and teens to hang out independently. It gave everyone the chance to find their own fun.

Making Memories Beyond the Resort

We couldn’t resist getting off the resort to explore a little, and the excursions did not disappoint. Our first big adventure was a conch scavenger hunt out on the reef. The snorkeling was about 8–12 feet deep, and people were diving down to collect the conchs. The Lovejoy crew… well, let’s just say we weren’t quite that skilled! 😅 Even so, it was a blast to try, and afterward we spent some time hanging out on the beach — which honestly ended up being one of the biggest highlights of the trip.

Next, we tried parasailing, which turned out to be more peaceful than daring. Floating above the water gave us a whole new perspective of Turks & Caicos. The ocean was so clear we could see fish swimming below us, and from up high it felt like we had the island all to ourselves.

The Best Part of All

As wonderful as the food, entertainment, and excursions were, the best part of this trip was simply being together. Turks & Caicos gave us the chance to slow down, unplug, and really enjoy the world around us. We laughed, explored, and shared new experiences that we’ll carry with us long after the tan lines fade.

If you’re dreaming of turquoise waters, endless sunshine, and memories you’ll carry home forever, let’s make it happen.
