Are all Riu Resorts the same?

Riu resorts have successfully peppered their name throughout Mexico and the Caribbean. They have multiple properties in Aruba, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Jamaica and Mexico. With so many Riu resorts to choose from, there really is a Riu resort for everyone but which resort is perfect for you? Whether you are looking for Adults Only, family friendly, big complexes vs small, we are going to go over the difference between the properties and their categories. Your travel agent, Jamie Lovejoy is a Riu resorts expert.

Please note that although Riu has properties all over the world, we are just going to focus on Mexico and the Caribbean at this time.

Classic Resort vs Palace Resort

The first thing you are going to notice when comparing properties is if the name has the word ‘Palace’ in it. I could sum it up and tell you that you “get more” when you book a Palace Resort verse a Classic Resort, but are those amenities valuable to you? By checking out the included amenities below you will automatically narrow down your search.

Adults Only

Travel agent for Riu resorts showing the Adult only areas.

As much as we love our kids, there are times when we want to get away. When we are looking to spend time with our partner, we don’t want to deal with other people’s kids, either. That is when we want to find a great Adults Only location.

Riu has Adults Only resorts in 6 destinations with 10 options both Classic and Palace categories. You are able to go to Aruba, the Bahamas and Cabo all with Riu. The world is your oyster, why not hit them all??!!

Splash Water World

Travel agent for Riu resorts showcasing Splash Water World.

With or without kiddos, water slides are a perfect addition to your stay. Not all Riu properties have Splash Water World so pay attention to the property you are selecting. If you are staying at a Riu Complex with Splash Water World, the entire complex has access to the water park.

Complex Resorts

With so much to offer, Riu likes to keep everyone close. This is great when you have multi-generational gatherings such as a wedding or family get together. Grandparents might want the quiet of the Adults Only or maybe some of your party has a different budget than the other. This is also where it might get confusing for the average Joe and can use the help of a trusted travel agent. Not all Riu resorts are in complexes but if you are looking for a complex, Riviera Maya, Punta Cana and Cabo San Lucas offer a variety of resorts in convenient locations.
